War In Your Heart

wilderness years
Liner notesThis was written for a pal having a rough time with his then on-again-off-again girlfriend, now wife. I don't take any credit for that development. I'd be reticent to write 'If you need me I'm here' now -- bloody hell man, if someone needs your help, figure out what it is and do it. It's a lovely song, but the protagonist needs to be told he's pathetic.

There's a war in your heart over me
Why they're fighting, no-one can see
You don't have to be the one casualty
From the war in your heart over me.

There's a storm in your soul over us
You're reeling with every gust
We'll both be crushed until we adjust
To the storm in your soul over us.

I don't have the solution
I don't even have an idea
The one thing I know is you don't have to go
If you need me I'm here

There's a thorn in your side and it's this:
That you're hurting, no-one could miss
But please don't you kiss me goodbye and dismiss
The thorn in your side that is this.

I don't have the solution
I don't even have an idea
The one thing I know is you don't have to go
If you need me I'm here

There's a war in your heart over me
And it's obvious why you would flee
But you don't need to be the sole refugee
From the war in your heart
The war in your heart
The war in your heart over me.
