You And Me Against The Rest Of The World
*I love this song. I remember playing it for flatmate Stu and being told he loved the notes I was taking out of the chords. The recorded version is finger-picky, but it works really nicely as rock-n-roll too. I'm not 100% happy with ending on the smiles, that feels a bit cheer-up-love-it-might-never-happen.
So, things have been kind of slow,
You're feeling a little low,
Keep your head held high.
So, friends you thought you knew
Have been turning their backs on you
And no-one'll tell you why
Lately we've been swimming against the tide
But baby, I'm still on your side
It's you and me against the rest of the world
You and me against the rest of the world
So, you look like you need to unwind
But you've too much on your mind
And too little time to explain
So, let's take leave of this town,
It's only dragging us down
Like some kind of ball and chain
Lately we've been swimming against the tide
But baby, I'm still on your side
It's you and me against the rest of the world
You and me against the rest of the world
So, if there's a God He doesn't want to play
But who needs Him anyway?
We're doing fine with two
So, it'd do you good to smile,
Once in every while
Maybe make me smile too
Lately we've been swimming against the tide
But baby, I'm still on your side
It's you and me against the rest of the world
You and me against the rest of the world
